Five things to do when you Travel

Generally, there are two types of people who make trips: those that travel to see it all, try new experiences and learn about where they are, and those that go on vacations. to relax, enjoy the beauty of the location and what bit has to offer. Don’t be mistaken, no one is better than the other.

While the aim of travelling and vacationing are to make memories, the traveler and vacationer achieve this in different ways.

For travelers, it is always a good idea to make a list of places to visit and new things to see and try while vacationers only choose relaxing spots with aesthetics and serenity to cool off and keep away from stress.

Whether you are a traveler or a vacationer, these five tips below will help you tremendously in your trips:

1. TAKE A WALKING TOUR

Getting a good grasp of the city and understanding its influence requires a walking tour. This provides the privilege of meeting and interacting with people from all over the world, trying new foods/cuisines and getting to know and experience other people’s culture. You learn so much more than just reading about it in a book. You may also find out new places to explore next, how to do it and people to go on your adventures with.

Most cities with vibrant tourism offer free walking tours. More information about these walking tours can be found online.

2. VISIT THE GROCREY STORES

Grocery stores are not only a great place to save money on food, but also gives an overview of the local cuisine. It’s also a great form of perusing the city’s market. The market might present you with bakery item or a delicious dessert.

3. VISIT TOURIST ATTRACTION CENTRES

As a tourist/vacationer, visiting tourist attractions will give you a new and lasting experience about your location. To get a good/beautiful view of the city, go to the highest point of the city (usually a cathedral or a landmark).

4. HAVE AN “OUT OF THE WAY” EXPERIENCE

To have an “out of the way” experience simply means to have an unusual kind of experience. Staying with what you know might be tempting sometimes, but having an authentic out of the way experience creates lasting memories. E.g. the Swedish bath in Malmo, Sweden, a fun day out at the IMG World of Adventure Dubai, UAE, the mangrove in Abu Dhabi, etc.  This experience may be freeing, scary and exhilarating but it will definitely make a visitor feel like a local.

5. VISIT A TRADITIONAL RESTAURANT

The feeling of having a traditional meal prepared in a traditional restaurant is unbeatable. Getting to try the food is part of the fun of being in a new place.

Because we all travel a bit differently, you have to create an itinerary/travel plan that suites your needs. Regardless, all these five experiences should be included in your travel plan or travel to-do list.
